Trail to a Cure names amfAR and Rain as 2008 Event's Beneficiaries

At a board meeting on August 8, 2007, Trail to a Cure, Inc. selected amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, and Rain of Central Missouri as its 2007-2008 beneficiaries. Trail to a Cure funds donated to amfAR will be designated to fund research toward a cure for HIV/AIDS. Funds donated to Rain will be designated to provide direct services to clients living in central Missouri.

Trail to a Cure, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to enhance the fight against HIV/AIDS. The group’s primary annual fundraiser consists of a bike ride/walk/run utilizing one of Missouri’s finest resources, the Katy Trail. The first annual Trail to a Cure event, scheduled for Sunday, May 4, 2008 will be coordinated at the Rocheport Trailhead.

Since this will be the group’s first event, there are no financial goals established for the event. Brian McCurren, treasurer, explained, “We will be doing a great deal of learning this first year. Next year we will have a better idea of how much we can raise and donate to HIV/AIDS causes, based on this year’s event.”

“We have great expectations with a great deal of talent going into our first year,” stated Jeff Clark, board member. “There is no doubt we will have a successful event in May. We look forward to having fun during the event, but more importantly raising the needed funds for amfAR and Rain.”

Additional information is available at each organization’s web site. amfAR can be found on the web at www.amfar.org. Rain of Central Missouri can be found at www.missourirain.org.
